Duisburg and its partners Oberhausen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Bottrop and the Kommunalverband Ruhrgebiet (KVR) have started to organize the 7th World Games in Germany. The newly relaunched internet-presentation will provide up-to-date information about the current development of preparation, will launch the latest news and offer a wide service for sportsmen and sportswomen, officials and all the friends of the World Games around the globe.

Season Opening Ceremony of EV Duisburg on August 14th 2004
World Games 2005 Ltd. providing information on next year’s Games
Even if presently there is no sign of a new “ice age”: The German Ice Hockey League team of EV Duisburg are launching the forthcoming season with the official opening ceremony on Saturday, August 14th.

Innenhafen race on August 14th 2004
The World Games are setting the pace at the 5th Innenhafen race.
On Saturday, August 14th from 5 pm the race, which is being organised by the athletics department of Eintracht Duisburg 1848, will start off for the 5th time.

World Games sport on German TV-show “ZDF-Fernsehgarten“
The U23-Korfball Team are presenting their World Games sport on the German TV show „ZDF-Fernsehgarten“ on Sunday, August 8th 2004 at 10.47 am.
From October 31st till November 7th 2004 the U23 Korfball World Championship will be held as a pre-event to the World Games 2005 in the sports-hall at Krefelder Str. in Duisburg-Rheinhausen.

German Archery Championship in Mülheim/Ruhr
Test for the World Games 2005
This weekend, more than 250 athletes from all over Germany competed in order to find their German Champions in 13 disciplines. In the bare bow competition of women the current World Champion Monika Jentges of SG Bremervörde won. Richardis Sträter (Hiltrup Rovers BS) was ranked second while Jutta Schneider of FBC Hamburg was awarded the bronze medal.

Meridian Challenge 2004 Duisburg
Barefooted across the Regattabahn
This weekend, the barefoot waterski elite met in Duisburg. 43 athletes from eleven nations, mainly Europe and South Africa, held a competition in order to compare their skills on water within the 2004 EAME Challenge.
