The World Games 2005 Ltd. with its partners Bottrop, Duisburg, Oberhausen, Mühlheim on the Ruhr and the Kommunalverband Ruhrgebiet (KVR) is in charge of the preparation and management of the World Games in Duisburg and its neighbouring cities. To cope with this enormous task support from all sides is needed. On August 21, 2003 another panel was formed: in this Advisory Council, apart from representatives of the above mentioned partner cities, there are representatives of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, the State Sports Ministry, the State Sports Federation, the Projekt Ruhr Ltd. and the KVR. They are going to accompany and support the organizers of the 2005 World Games with their specific technical knowledge.
During the Constitutive Meeting the election of the chairmen was also on the agenda. Rainer Enzweiler, the Chairman of Duisburg’s Committee of Sports, was elected unanimously. As Rainer Enzweiler explains: “The foundation of the Advisory Council is yet another step to make the World Games a success. The members of the Council will contribute above all in the field of sports. Additionally the cultural programme is being focussed on. The World Games not only offer sportive highlights, but should also captivate the spectators through spectacular cultural events. I am sure that we can give decisive support to the organizers of the World Games in this respect.”
