German Barefoot – Waterski Championship and Open Wakeboard Championship
July 30th till August 1st in Duisburg, Regattabahn

Drawn by a 20 meter long rope which is attached to a 300 hp motorboat, Germanys best Barefoot-Artists are going to search for their champions in the women’s (four participants) and men’s (16 participants)competition.

Barefoot Waterski
At a top speed of about 70 kmh the athletes only have 15 seconds to show as many of their best stunts as possible. In slalom it is necessary to be the fastest between the buoys, while in the jumping discipline the 45 cm high ramp is used for achieving distances beyond 25 meters.

On July 30th at
2.30 pm the fore runnings in slalom begin. All other first runnings and semi-finals are held on July 31st as from 10 am and the finals will eventually take place on August 1st (beginning at 9 am ). The presentation ceremony will be carried out at the end of the event at around 4 pm.

Wakeboard
A wakeboard is an about 1,40 meters long board made of synthetics on which the athletes stand sideways. This enables them to change the direction of motion optionally while using the stern wave (which can be as high as half a meter) created by the motorboat for stunts and jumps.

16 males (1 Frenchman apart from the German elite) and 4 females are beginning their competition at 1 pm on July 30th with the qualifications of men and finally complete their part of the event with the presentation ceremony at about 5.30 pm on July 31st.

Wasserskishow
As a special treat to the spectators, who can watch all the competitions free of charge and very closely from the stand, the waterski team of MYC Greffern will present their show „Around the World“ at 6 pm on Saturday and at 2 pm on Sunday.
The audience may look forward to acrobatics and fun as the artists from Baden will be rampaging about wildly on the water using all kinds of impractical equipment. After a very special “wedding on the water” the performance will end with a big pyramid.

The event, which is organized by the German Waterski Association, serves as a pre-event to the World Games in Duisburg.
