Even if presently there is no sign of a new “ice age”: The German Ice Hockey League team of EV Duisburg are launching the forthcoming season with the official opening ceremony on Saturday, August 14th.
In front of the Scania-Arena, from
2.30 pm, the fans and other interested members of the public will be put in the mood for the next season throughout the presentation of the team. Then, the team of coach Dieter Hegen will move to the ice in order to compete with the DEL-team of Krefeld Penguins, co-operation partners of The Foxes. In anticipation of next year’s World Games in Duisburg the EVD team will be promoting the largest sports event in 2005 by means of having the World Games logo printed on their shirts.
The World Games information stand will also be there during the opening ceremony, the more so as the Inline Hockey competition, a discipline which is very much akin to Ice Hockey and quite popular with its fans, will be held in the Scania-Arena next year.
A lot of Ice Hockey national players are expected to support their national teams then, for in the summer they usually practise this kind of trend sport.
The winners of the ongoing World Games raffle will receive a lot of attractive prizes such as VIP tickets for the opening ceremony.
